Cisco CCENT Practice Test Questions

The Cisco CCENT certification is the main entry level certification in the Cisco certification line. It is the first step towards getting the CCNA certification, which is the associate-level certification. Following that is the professional-level (the CCNP), the expert level (the CCIE), and finally the architect level (the CCAr). The other entry-level certification in the Cisco certification series is CCT, which focuses specifically on being a technician.

The CCENT certification covers a broader range of topics. There are no course prerequisites to take the CCENT exam. However, it is recommended that applicants compete the course Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices part 1 (ICND1) before taking the exam, as this course is a course specifically centered around the topics covered in the exam.

The exam code is 100-105 ICND1. This exam requires knowledge of network fundamentals, LAN switching technologies, infrastructure services and maintenance, and routing technologies. There are anywhere between 45 and 55 questions on this exam and the time limit will vary anywhere from one hour to two hours, but is typically 90 minutes.

There will be multiple choice questions, multiple answer questions (note that Cisco exams will always tell you how many answers you should check on these questions), drag-and-drop questions, fill in the blank questions, and simulation questions. The exam will be online and each question will come in a set order and may only be seen once. In other words, you may not ‘mark’ a question to return to later like in CompTIA exams.

The passing score of this exam varies each year and will not be revealed until after the exam is over; however, the average passing score is around 800-850 out of 1,000 points. In the event that you fail the exam, you must wait three full days – starting the day after the exam – to register to retake the exam. The cost of taking this exam is $125. This certification is valid for three years. At the end of three years, the certification may be renewed by retaking this exam.
