Aloha

Aloha is quite a versatile word, it has different meanings when used in different languages and even in same language and it can be used in several context as many meanings can be attributed to this single word, the reason for this is that it is a Hawaiian word, however, this article will deal with this term with regards to the networking and computer world.

The first meaning that can be attributed to this word with respect to the networking world is; aloha is a name of the protocol for the satellites launched and for the terrestrial radio transmission.  In both the cases it allows the user to communicate with the destined person, however, the only problem in this technology was the problem of collision which happened when more than one person were using this method at one time, even from different locations, however, the problem was solved to a great extent. All that apart, Aloha protocol was the basis for the Ethernet switch used widely today along with the local area network protocol. Therefore it can be said that in a computer world this term is used to describe something important, and have a totally different meaning.

Secondly, there is a company named Aloha Networks Inc. It is a San Francisco based company and it deals extensively with providing the satellite based internet access, however, this technology is only sold to the large internet service provider, so that the users of the internet do not have to face any problem and they can access information from nearly anywhere on the world.
Thirdly, the term is used as a name for software, and the software is named Aloha Home. The software was introduced by Media Synergy and the role of the software is that it allows the user to add graphics, colors, animations, and sound to the e-mail messages.
