AppleTalk

Today nearly everyone knows about the company that goes by the name of Apple. It deals in products such as computers, phones, ipods, mp3 etc. All of these products run on a set of protocols and software which is quite different than the protocols and the software present in the market and used by other companies. Apple has its own set of software and protocols to put in their products, and these set of protocols are named as AppleTalk. The exact definition of AppleTalk is that it is a proprietary suite of protocols developed by the Apple Inc. for the networking computers, made by the company itself.

This AppleTalk was first included in the operating system, the first original Macintosh that was released in 1984 and since then new and improved version of this feature continues to come. This AppleTalk is also present in all the laser printers as well, that are made till date by Apple. The reason that this AppleTalk feature is used so extensively is that it is quite and inexpensive LAN architecture, hence the cost of production is also low.

There are certain different protocols which fall under the AppleTalk family. They are AppleTalk address resolution, data stream, filing, transaction protocols. The role of the AppleTalk is that it allows or one can say it supports the Apple LocalTalk cabling scheme which is present in all the Apple iPhone. This application allows the people to talk to each other through the application and it does not cost anything. Beside this application it is also supports Ethernet and IBM Token Ring. In addition to all this, just like phones, it can also be used to connect PCs, Macintosh computers and printers as well as long as they are equipped with the special AppleTalk software and hardware.
