Computer

Computer is a machine that is programmable. Following are the two main characteristics of the today’s computer.

A)    A computer responds to a particular set of commands/instructions within a pre-defined discipline.
B)    A computer is capable to execute the sets of already recorded lists of commands/instructions that are called the computer programs.

Today’s computers are mixture of electronic as well as digital components. The physical part (Transistors, Wires, and Circuits etc. is known as the hardware whereas the segment comprising instructions and data, is known as the software.   

Normally, the common computers are consisting on the following.

Memory: The memory of the computer enables it to store and read the data and operate the programs.The Storage Devices:

Mass storage devices such as, Disk Drives and tape drives enables the computer to keep the bulk data for usage as per requirements.  Other components includes the input devices such as keyboard, scanner, mouse etc. These input devices actually enable the user to give certain commands/instructions to computer for desired results. The output devices like display monitor, printers etc. etc. are also integral part of a complete computer.
