Data independence

Data independence is the separation of the data that had been used for many different programs. So it is important to distinguish among both the data and the programs that are being used for that data. Data independence also works with the database management system which is concerned with the portfolio of the data that is incorporated with a firm. Moreover it also represents the way in which the data is being managed and the management of the data needs to be done on separate levels for the entire data exists within a company.

Sometimes data independence does not require any changes at all and some of the changes that the user had to deal with may be with the size of the elements that is contained in the data or even the problem may also be encountered with the format of the data too. Transferring the data into some other format is a difficult job and it may require some people to exert efforts on a greater scale too on it. Mostly the changes that are made by the user are done in the data organization and its presentation.

Data independence can be used in many different forms. Among its major types are the physical data independence and the logical data independence. Both of them are used for different purposes. The physical data independence is sued for the purpose of changing the way in which the entire data and its programming is being done and it somehow deal with the conceptual level changing done in some physical way. However the logical data independence is the way of changing the external layers of the data so that logical changes can be achieved and in it the user does not makes any concept changes. On the whole data independence may be carried out on different scale level.
