Decibels Db Dbm

Wi-Fi signals are often measured in terms of decibels. Basically decibels are a unit of measurement. They are used for many other types of audio equipment and radio electronics and cell phones. You will see that most Wi-Fi antennas and transceivers have decibel ratings, also networking equipment  displays ratings in Dbm.

If you purchase Wi-Fi equipment that has a higher Dbm, it will be able to have a larger range in terms of wireless network traffic, but bear in mind that higher Dbm means using up a lot more power and that has a negative effect on the battery in mobile equipment.
