Difference between Bitmap, JPEG, and GIF Files

The differences between bitmap, gif and jpeg files exist but all these forms of files had been defined for the storing of the image. It entirely depends upon the person that in which form he wants the image to be saved as some of the programs might be compatible with jpeg, bitmap or gif file.

The bitmap images are the one which allows the image to be saved in the .bitmap file format. mainly this sort of file is used for the image purpose. The bitmap image is mainly composed of many different pixels which are somehow contained in the image and the pixels in the image may be either in the form of dots or square and the bitmap images are found to be in colored form as well. Resolution is one of the most important features of the bitmap images. If the resolution of the image is quite high then the image may not be clearly see by the person which as a result makes sure that the pixels which are contained in the image are of specific nature.

However it had been found that jpeg and gif files are the files which are the zipped or compressed form of the actual bitmap images. The gif file is the graphics interchange format which is responsible for the purpose of images but the entire image is retained in the gif for because the image is mainly of lossless compression quality. This means that whenever the image is saved in this form, no data is being lost and hence both the jpeg and the gif re two different forms of bitmap files. The jpeg file I the one which is the joint photographic experts groups which means that when the image is being used in this form, the entire image that had been saved and the information contained in it is also lost and this is the files which is at times referred to as the lossy compression file due to the lost of the data that had been saved.
