Diffusing Update Algorithm

DUAL (Diffusing Update Algorithm) is a the routing protocol which is applied by EIGRP while calculating and creating the routing tables in order to determining either the said path is properly looped or is loop-free. Moreover, DUAL also has provision of router running EIGRP in order to locate alternate paths. This can be done without any supporting data or update from the other associated routers.  This very useful technique “DUAL was originally introduced at SRI International and is widely used as a very common routing protocol.
