DSL IDSL ADSL RADSL
Asymmetric DSL tends to have more bandwidth with regards to downloading, the provider restrict the upstream bandwidth which then allows them to channel more bandwidth downstream. It is very popular with residential networks as people tend to download rather than upload material.
Generally the statistic for asymmetric DSL are , 5mbps(downloading) and 1mbps(uploading). Asymmetric types are known by different names, some of them are; ADSL, RADSL, VDSL.
On the other end is symmetric DSL, which has anequal share of bandwidth for uploading and downloading data. Mainly popular with the business arena, as they are likely to have more information to transmit. The statistics for symmetric DSL are equal, 1.5mbps both ways. The type here are known by different names as well including; SDSL, HDSL and SHDSL.
Apart from these two there are other type of DSL.
IDSL is a mixture of DSL and ISDN, but its speed is quite disappointing so it isn’t very popular
