G.728
G.728 is the standard developed by the International Telecommunication Union for compression/decompression of Speech (Audio). It follows LD-CELP (Low Delay Code Excited Linear Prediction) while operating at 16 kbit/sec.
It compresses the speech at sampling rate of 8,000 sample/sec. Its Algorithmic coding delay is 0.625 that is delivering about closer to the similar voice quality. However, it uses merely half of the available bandwidth.
This ITU-T standard is very useful for speech compression and decompression and being used since years as a well proven guiding parameter for producing digital signals with relatively less bit rates.
