How Much Electricity Does a Computer Use

The consumption of electricity basically depends upon the usage of the computer and the type of computer that is being used. The rate of the consumption of electricity differs from computer to computer. The other difference can be seen for how much time the computer had been used. If the computer had been used for a longer time period then it would be automatically using a larger amount of electricity. On daily basis and on average the computer that is being used at home uses about 60-500 watts of electricity. On the other hand if the person plans to use computer on some LCD or other device then the electricity consumption would be automatically increased as the device is increased in its size so the units of consumption also increases.

Different types of solutions are also present which makes it easy for the person to find out that how the electricity consumption can be saved. The first most important feature through which electricity can be saved is the computer should not be switched on when it’s not being used and at the same time the application of screen saver also serves a lot towards more consumption of electricity. If the computer is used for some business purpose then the electricity consumption would be more as compared to the computer which is used on home basis.

The power consumption for all sorts of computers varies from each other. The computer consumes more amount of electricity as compared to the monitors, LCD and the laptop computers. However the electricity consumption for laptops is based on approximately 15-60 watts but the computers consume more amount of electricity. If the computers had been put on the sleep or standby mode, consumption of electricity still takes place and the consumption may range from 2-6 watts.
