Information management systems is also referred to as the Management information systems the system had been quite effective is producing excellent results and at the same time it had been very much helpful for decision making for the managers. The information management systems works at the operational and the functional area of the department. The most important functional areas in the organization may include the marketing, fiancé, accounting and human resource management departments.

The information that is generated in the management information department is used by the functional areas managers and hence they are responsible for the generation of reports of daily or routine basis. The information management systems department had to oversee that the entire system is being implemented properly implemented or not. Moreover the systems are also concerned with bringing the change that takes place within the organization. The change that is to be implemented may be in the form of people, data or things.

The information management system works best with the information technology which in turn keeps the person updated with each ad everything that is being carried out by the people on daily basis. On the other hand the management information systems are also responsible for gathering and extracting the exact information that is demanded by the users and if the information is not completely available then the information can be molded according to their needs so that the end users are satisfied. The productivity level is also improved leading towards and operation efficiency and effectiveness.

The decision making can also be effective through the implementation of many other support systems which had been evolved during the evolution of management information systems in late 1960’s and the information managements systems can also be supported by some other systems known as the decision, executive support systems and others.
