Ipng-Ipv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6)

The Internet Protocol Version 6 (Ipv6) is commonly known as Internet Protocol next generation (Ipng). This is the most recent version of the IP (Internet Protocol) that is revised in the IETF standards committee so as to replace the present version of Internet Protocol Version 4 (Ipv4).

Officially IPng is known as Ipv6. Actually IP is the short of Internet Protocol whereas the v6 denotes the 6th version. The Ipv6 is the Internet Protocol that is meant for packet-switched internet working which determines the nomenclature of data packets as well as the structure of addressing schemes via different Internet Protocol setups/networks.
Typically, if we compare both of the protocols, Ipv6 is seen as the best option as it covers the addressing and routing capabilities of Ipv4 through different ways such as.

  • Ipv6 accommodates a higher number of addressable nodes.
  • In Ipv6, the size of the Internet Protocol address is increased to 128 bits from 32 bits.
  • Ipv6 is providing a very simple auto-configuration of addresses.
  • The Ipv6 is providing much more level for addressing hierarchy.
  • Above all, the Ipv6 also supporting the simplified header formats.
