Management information systems had been very much helpful for decision making for the managers and hence it is mainly used for the information to be accessed, analyzed and stored in the functional area of the firm. The information that is generated in the management information department is used by the functional areas managers. The major functional areas in the organization may include the marketing, fiancé, accounting and human resource management departments. After this the functional area department is responsible for the generation of the reports for the operations that are conducted within the organization on daily basis. This in turn not only enhances the decision making capacity for the manager but the productivity level is also improved leading towards and operation efficiency and effectiveness.
The management information systems department had to oversee that the entire system is being implemented properly implemented or not. The systems also include some hardware’s and software’s. On the other hand the management information systems are also responsible for gathering and extracting the exact information that is demanded by the users and if the information is not completely available then the information can be molded according to their needs so that the end users are satisfied. The management information systems is also responsible for linking the art of science to the business, when it is thought of as a field of study and applications rather than as a system.
Moreover the systems are also about managing the change that takes place within the organization. In most of the cases the management system also serves as the advisory consultant to the management. The entire purpose of the management information systems is the effective decision making so that it could be fruitful for the organization. The decision making can also be effective through the implementation of many other support systems which had been evolved during the evolution of management information systems in late 1960’s.
