Motherboard is the main circuit board of a personal/minicomputer. The motherboards are consists a number of tiny components and connectors for attaching other additional boards.
Normally, the motherboard comprises the CPU, Memory, BIOS, Mass Storage Interface, parallel and serial ports, Expansion Slots. It also includes the controllers which are required to control the usual peripherals like the keyboard, display screen and disk drive.
As a whole, all of these chips which are placed on the motherboard are known as the motherboard’s chipset.
