RTT

The abbreviation RTT has many meaning attached to it, however, this article will deal with this word with respect to the networking world. In the networking world the term RT T is an acronym for two concepts. The first meaning of the term RTT is round trip time and the second meaning attached to this term with context to the networking world is real time technology.

Round trip time is the amount of the time that is taken by the network communication to travel from its source to destination and then back to the source. There is a need to measure the time of the network communication because in this world the need for faster networks is increasing, so calculating the time for the network communication help the experts decide upon the protocols and the routes which give optimum performance, that is, on which the time for the network communication to complete its whole circle is minimum.

The second meaning of the term RTT is real time technology as told before. It is a technology that allows the user to access and get the data at the actual time the process occurs, without any delay. In simpler words, a user receives a data as soon as the process occurs and this real time is measured in milliseconds or micro-seconds. In the world today this technology is extensively used for sophisticated purposes, like entertainment, online video streaming, games, etc. in all these application the information or data is sent to the user instantly as soon as the user executes some process. This technology is also used in places other than the networking world, like in making efficient auto-pilot software, a remote controlled missile etc. In short, this technology is used in all those places where instant information is needed after the execution of a process.
