SIP proxy

SIP proxy is also known as a SIP server or SIP proxy server. In the telecom technology, it is considered as one of the major components of the IP PBX which is used by SIP in order to perform multiple call set up functions.

As described in RFC 3621, The SIP (Session Initiation Protocol SIP utilizes the elements known as proxy servers.

In a SIP network, the SIP proxy actually controls the setup of calls between SIP devices.
