Starting of the Internet
The creation of the internet is the result of a collaboration of the efforts of numerous people and agencies. No single person can be accredited with forming the internet as we know it today. However some people can be given credit for developing those key technologies that brought about the evolution of the world wide web.
Email was the first technology that would later dominate the web. Developed by Ray Tomlinson in 1971 the earliest form of email worked on the early internet.
Next came Ethernet, created by Robert Metcalf and David Boggs in 1973, it was the first physical communication technology upon which internet was based.
This was followed by TCP/IP, created in May 1974 by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) in a published a paper entitled "A Protocol for Packet Network Interconnection." Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn explained a protocol called TCP that integrated connection-oriented and datagram services this protocol later became known as TCP/IP.
