TKIP
The world of networking is full of different security protocols as security is the first and the main issue in the network present anywhere, and no one is willing to compromise on that one issue, as no one wants any one unauthorized to view the information which is to be kept secret and isn’t for sharing, moreover, the security has to be maintained as there are many criminal computers who are out there working to find a loop hole in the security system of the network and insert the virus file to the network, which could cause huge loss to the organization and which results in the loss of data, therefore the world is in continuous struggle to find a new and better security features and TKIP is just another product of this struggle.
This term mean Temporal Key Integrity Protocol and it was first released in the October 2002. It is a security protocol used in the IEEE 802.11 Wireless networking standard. This protocol was designed by the IEEE 802.11i task group along with the help of the Wi-Fi Alliance as a solution to replace the WEP, which was used before, and this new security protocol was made in such as way that it was compatible even with the legacy hardware as well as the newer hardware, thus making it flexible.
This step of introducing this technology was necessary as the older protocol WEP was becoming inadequate day by day, as it was not able to provide up to mark security for the networks and there were often complains about a breach being made in the network. Hence to solve this issue, this protocol was introduced in the networking world. At the moment a newer security protocol is being made by the networking companies and it is expected that in the near future, this security protocol would also be replaced with something better than this.
