Types Of Wireless Networks
All the wireless computer networks are referred to as The Wireless Networks. It is generally related with the telecommunication networks in which nodes are connected together without using any kind of wires or any other medium like wires. There are three main types of wireless networks:
• Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN). • Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). • Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN).
WPAN is the application of wireless technology which is made for the personal usage of users. They are made to support instant connectivity between various devices which intend to manage personal data or which assists data sharing between minor groups of individuals. The main thing about these types of networks is that they are spontaneous and unplanned.
WLAN gives more emphasis on the organizational connectivity. The basic purpose of a WLAN technology is that it should provide access to corporate network resources and the data related to it for all the members of the workgroup. It gives users the facilities of shared applications and emails. The wireless connectivity functioning is within a specified region like a lab or a building. This is done with the help of various access points which define a limited region of coverage.
If WLAN ensures the connectivity within a defined region, but the Wireless Wide Area Network addresses the needs of the members to stay connected while traveling outside the boundary which is limited in case of WLAN. Now days, mobile phone technologies enable the user to enjoy wireless computer connectivity either via a cable to a cellular telephone or through a PC Card cellular modems. The main motive of WWAN is to provide its users with the facility to stay in touch with each other while they are on tours or somewhere where they are unable to meet each other personally.
