Unbound

Unbound is the open source that is substitute for the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) domain name system. Unbound is a recursive, validating and caching DNS server that was introduced under the BSD license.

Unbound 1.0 is the current version that comprises both a server daemon enabling cached DNS lookups through port communication and a resolver library which is linked into the developer applications while enabling them to perform DNS lookups.

Under sponsorship of VeriSign, Kerei and Nominet, Unbound is also being developed by NLnet Labs
