WebDAV

WebDAV is short for complete term “Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning. It is an IETF standard set of platform-independent extensions to HTTP. It enables the users to edit collectively and control files on the remote Web servers.

WebDav possesses XML properties on metadata locking and prevents authors from overwriting. It also prevents namespace manipulation and helps to effectively perform the remote file management. Sometimes, WebDav is referred to as DAV.
