What Is Fxs
Fxs is the abbreviation of Foreign Exchange Station that is a hardware device that is used when an analog telephone system is connected to an internet service. This connection is established by two devices one is discussed in this article as FXS and the other is FXO.
FXS is responsible for all the activities that are important for a simple telephone line. As an ordinary analog phone is connected to the internet or VoIP so it needs some additional hardware to perform those all activities. Whenever you pick up the receiver you listen to a beep and then you enter a number and as you press a key you hear different sounds. Then the call is connected to the other number if the call is successful then it makes a receiving tone. Is the number is busy on another call a busy tone is generated that makes you aware. If the call waiting service is activated then it tells you to wait or if an automatic system is installed that is responsible for the distribution of calls then a call waiting music or tone is played. These all tones are played on an ordinary phone by the service provider itself but when an analog phone is connected to the internet telephone then these all tones and beeps are generated by the FXS. This all is done by the signals generated by the other device FXO. These both devices work simultaneously to complete the whole process of call.
This is a very important device and is also very common now days a lot of organizations are using their analog phones to connect them with VoIP so that they can better services at cheap rates. FXS has no need of maintenance and no need of up gradation. It is easy to install and use.
