What Is Hairpin

As now days internet telephone is very common everywhere and is being used a lot. So it has many types of features that can be used to solve many problems. Internet telephone works on the principle of networking of different networks together. These networks may be of different kinds and sometimes it may be possible that the destination may not get the address of the signals from where the call originated at first. To solve this problem a process is performed that is called hairpin process or also called hairpining.

In this process the call or signals that are received at the destination are tracked back to its origin. In this way there initial address is known. By the destination and then the destination keeps this address safe for the future communication so that it does not has to go back again.

It is very helpful at times when a long communication is established between two points and then suddenly the connection is lost between the source and destination then immediately some signals or a call is sent back to find the source of that signal. Then these signals travel backwards and as they pass the gateways between different networks they get the address of that last signal that was passed and following it to the last gateway the exact location is found easily.
This phenomenon is also used with the old telephone communication system and is helpful in retrieving the last call easily. It has been established so that whenever the communication link is broken and the data or signals are still to come then the link can be established again after some time. Also if the source is not resending the data or signals then the call back can restart the link and help to complete the process of communication.
