What Is MGC

MGC or media gateway controller is like a switch in the internet communication that involves the audio and video data communication. It is responsible for looking after the network resources to maintain the network for all types of multimedia communication. Many organizations are using internet for there every type of communication like the use of internet telephone and the video conferencing that is not possible using the customary phone line. These organizations have to setup a complete system to carry out their communication activities permanently and without any interruption. Media gateway controller performs or handles these media activities by taking the responsibility of distribution of data and collection of data related to multimedia.

When a call connected to the network that is using internet as its communication media then media gateway controller gives a signal to the system about that incoming call and then finds the destination of that incoming call and establishes the link between the two so that the process is completed. Similarly if any other multimedia communication is to be sent outside the system than it is encoded into a specific program so that there is no problem for the data if it is to be sent to any other network that is using a different technique of data transmission.

All the necessary information is also attached to it so that the receiving network decodes the data in a correct way otherwise the complete process might end up in waste of time. Every network checks that data and if the destination address matches to a location inside that network then it is connected to that address. It has been developed to make the internet using networks more efficient so that they can manage their internal and external media communication without the help of any external communication system.
