What Is MGCP

Internet is being used as communication media now days. New ways have been developed to use it for every type of communication so that it becomes the main source of communication in future. At moment internet telephone system has been introduced for large and small organization setups where all the communication that was previously done on telephone like calls or receiving fax has been shifted to internet. This is way faster and reliable communication system as it has very low rate of errors in communication. In order to make this system work different types of standards are needed to make the system work properly. Media gateway control protocol is a standard that is used to control all the media activities that are taking place on an internet communication line. Before this older systems were used to handle the media activities but after the invention of this system media activities have become very easy to be carried out.

It is capable of transmitting one type of data on different types of networks. Every network has different type of data transmission technique some transfer data as it is composed and other networks divide the data into small packets and then transfer it to the network. As there is a difference in the sending technique so it is necessary to have a system that can be used with every type of networks for transmitting multimedia data.

MGCP act as an agent that can convert the outgoing data in a form that can be interpreted by any other type of network and also it decodes the incoming data from other networks so the multimedia information can be connected to the correct destination inside that network. It also manages the network resources inside the network so that internal communication also remains settle and no problem is there in it.
