What Is MOS

It is very important to keep a track of the process that is going on to look if it is working according to the fixed standard or not. For this purpose different types of measurements and other elements are placed in the system so that the monitoring of the process can be done. Internet telephony is vetting very common now days at its use has been started in many different fields because of its additional features that cannot be availed while using the old phone line. MOS or media opinion score can be defined as a standard of measurement that tells about the quality of a of a voice conversation that is taking place on internet. As voice communication is very important and is used a lot more than any other type of communication so it needs to be well maintained otherwise the users might not be happy after they get voice dropouts or slow voice transmission or even the call termination in some serious problems.

MOS is capable of measuring a conversation that how much the quality has been damaged after it has been transmitted from source to destination. Usually it is measured in digits ranging from 1-5. Smaller the value of digit worse is the quality of sound at the destination and greater the value of digit better will be the quality of sound at the destination.

This is done by programming this software with sound vocabulary and whenever a conversation is taking place on the internet communication line it is compared to the standard voice tones that are already present in the system and if the voice quality matches exactly with stored sound then it is marked as a 5 or best quality voice transmission and as the more and more differences come then it is termed as a bad conversation transmission.
