What Is Mother board
A computer system is made of many different types components that are joined together to function as a single unit to get the desired result. All the components inside the system unit are placed upon a central board that is termed as mother board. It can be said as the root of every component that is installed inside a system unit. It is the most important part of a computer system. It is designed in a way so that it can accommodate every important hardware component that is needed on it upon the ports or slot that are present on the motherboard. Mother board is also the main unit that supplies the power that is needed for the functioning of electronic components.
These slots and ports are the circuits that are special places where particular components can be attached. Some essential hardware installed in a mother board are ram, rom, central processing unit or processor, sound card, video card or graphic card, keyboard, mouse, multiple usb ports and many other ports that can be used to attach many other devices that are also needed. These slots and ports are more in number than they are needed so that if the system has to be upgraded then additional components can fit in easily. Additional ports are also built so that if any port is damaged or fails to work properly than the other port can be used instead otherwise the complete system has to be reassembled for a small change.
There are different types of motherboards for different types of computer systems but there basic architecture and mechanism remains same. There size and shape varies according to the capacity of the motherboard. There are numerous different models that are developed by many different companies all over the world but there basic architecture remains same.
