What Is Network

The word network means a connection between more than one thing. In the world of computer science the word network means the connection or a link between two computers. This term network has made the world a global village. Network is the fundamental element in so much up gradation of everything. Information technology has become so essential in our lives because of networking. Everything has come together very close due to networking.

It is a phenomenon in which a link is established among some computers and they are able to share their information. This has resulted in the birth of internet which is the most precious invention of computer science. Internet is a collection of billions of computers at individual levels that are connected together and the information is travelling all over the world. There are many diverse sort of networks that can be established according to your need and work. The smallest network can consist of two computers that can be placed in a house or in a shop for persona business.

An organization that is situated in a single building and want a system that enables them to share information all over the building can establish a local network for that building. These types of networks spreading over a small area are called Local Area Networks (LANs). It is very popular now days as everything has been transferred to computers. Other network that is spread over a very large area and a large number of computers are linked to each other and these computers are situated at different locations. These types of networks are called Wide Area Networks (WANs). Some networks can also be established for special reasons live government departments have their own networks that are only accessible by their employees. Security is also a question when a network is being intended so safety measures must not be mistreated.
