What Is Q.931

Voice communication is carried out on different types of networks now days as internet has taken part in processing the voice calls that are done using the usual handsets. So to carry out this voice communication different types of standards or rules are to be followed so that makes it achievable to do voice conversations. These standards are called as protocols and one of them is the Q.931 protocol.  It is a very important protocol that has many different responsibilities to take care of in a voice conversation. It is not present in the very bottom layers of the communication and remains up in the process to look after the connection status.  When a number is dialled to connect to another line then Q.931 comes into the process and manages the resources so that the link can be established easily without any delays in the communication after that it also keeps the track of that voice call in case that any problem gets into the path.

Whenever voice signals are to be transmitted for an internet network to a non internet network then the information has to be transformed or it is packed into another information that has its all functionalities that how will it work and sent to the network similarly when Q.931 Is sent to any other non similar network it is attached with other information in a way that it is hidden under that information and that information helps to use this protocol for working.

 As it is on the upper layer of the communication so it has no connection with the lower layers as its functionality is totally different and if the bottom layers have not functioned well then they will not send the voice signals to this protocol for further processing of those signals as it is needed.
