What Is Router

Networking is considered to be the backbone of today’s world. Everything is connected to a network and is providing facilities to people. Some time more than one network is connected to each other to facilitate people and make things easier.

When more than two networks are to be connected then a router is needed to make a bridge or a link between the two networks. These networks can be of similar kind or different kinds. There size is also not a matter in linking then. Now days a lot of different networks are connected to each other sharing a lot of information and hence there are multiple ways to send information to the required destination. So it is very important to choose the best possible path that is the smallest and also is free for the data that is to be sent to the destination.

Router performs all these important activities or transferring the data from source to destination and also keeps the record of the location that where the data was sent for future use and also establishes a permanent link among the data sources and data receivers if the flow of data is continuous between them so that there is no need  to find a new path every time that will result in time waste. When a lot of networks are connected to each other and many routers are also installed in the links then all the routers that come in a specific path decide and calculate the most efficient path for the data flow. Every router notifies the next address that whether it is a destination within its range or an address of some place outside its range. The data is directed according to its address. It also has the ability to determine whether to send data or not due to the over load of data traffic in the network
