What Is Server

Every system needs a central hub from where it can be controlled or managed to function in a systematic way. Computers that are connected with each other are has also a central point from where they can link with each other and it is called server. Server can be used to take care of many things. If a server is designed correctly and is programmed well then it can be used to handle all the network activities itself and can also solve the network problems that are very usual otherwise all the activities on a network might be monitored manually.

Server is a computer that has been programmed to handle other computers for data transfer and interconnection of the computer that are attached to it and also it handles the other devices that are connected to it and they are being used by every system on that network. Server than manages the network resources so that a network can remain functional and no traffic blocks arise.

Every computer on a network has to communicate with the server as if it has to make some interaction with any other system or has to use some device that is attached to the server then it will send a request to the server and then the server will evaluate that request and will proceed for the request. If that service is already in use then the request sender is signalled to wait for the turn. Servers can be of many different types depending upon their functionality and there capacity of processing or handling a network. Some servers are used to control only a single activity of a system while others are assigned many duties. This assignment of activities totally depends upon the need of the system in which a server is being used.
