What Is VoIP Telephone

Voice over internet is a phenomenon that uses an internet connection that is fast enough to carry the voice signals at a certain speed that is required to carry out the conversation over a phone that is the device used for the communication.
This telephone can be a simple analog telephone that has an additional component that is designed to transform a simple phone into a digital phone that can be used to make internet phone calls. Digital phones or specially programmed phones that can be connected directly to the internet and then internet can be used as a line to make calls over internet to a simple line or to the same internet network.

VoIP phones are designed with some additional features that are absent in a simple phone. These features include special functionalities like a memory chip that stores the contacts with their names and numbers. Also it keeps the records of incoming, outgoing and missed calls up to a certain number. It also saves the duration of calls that were attended or dialled in short it keeps a brief history of your call records.

More features include the ability to handle many calls at a time and to distribute them to other lines one by one. This is called call distribution or also called call waiting. Conference calling is also a feature of VoIP telephone which allows many users to communicate with each other at a single time and can have conversation instead of waiting for their turn to connect.
Along all these facilities and attractive feature of VoIP telephone it has some drawbacks. These phones are expensive then the simple phones and need more maintenance than simple phones. If the internet system goes down for a long time then you also cannot use your phone system.
