WPAD

WPAD is the short for “Web Proxy Auto Discovery”. It is an Internet Protocol that helps the Web surfers to connect automatically to a cache server location in a network so as to access the stored Web pages at faster pace than having to leave the network for requesting the Web page from the originating sites and the Web servers. The client having enabled the WPAD firstly uses DHCP to find a cache service and afterwards the SLP (Service Location Protocol) if unsuccessful. In the event the cache server is not located, the WPDA-enable client opt to search the DNS records.
WPAD is used by the networks having huge number of users like ISPs and other enterprise networks.
