How To Configure A Wireless LAN
with the rapid increase of wireless devices, there has been a simultaneous increase in wireless LANs.
- Plug in the access point into the wired LAN and turn it on. Run the CD that will accompany the access point, it has the software that will allow the configuration of the network name and the creation of the encryption key.
- If the wireless network card is not turned on, refer to the users manual to find out how to switch it on. Once it is on it will locate wireless networks within range.
- Go to Start, then go to control panel and choose ‘network and internet connections’, then select wireless network setup wizard for the wireless device you want to setup.
- When the wizard prompts you, enter the network name and key. Once you are done with its questions, windows will connect your system to the wireless LAN.
- Remember, always make sure to enter the correct network name and key otherwise you will not be make a connection.
