Running a TCP/IP Wireless Network Installation and Support

this article will show you how to install a wireless network in a company setting.

  • Decide where to install the high gain antenna. The higher the better. This will ensure signal strength. Take this example, there are two buildings A and B. the higher A will be where we place our antenna, B will store the remote point in the highest possible safe spot for the router (60-80 is the optimal temperature), position the antenna in building A to start it up.
  • B is lower than A we will put up another router and use it as a multi-access point for our network  to be mutually visible. Both of our routers will be using the same SSID along with the security. Move around the devices until visibility is obtained (good to have a partner). Change the signal placement until it is established in the other building too.
  • The signal will have to be moved around until it is visible in the other building , we will need a spectrum analyzer and some other software to get a reading on our signal strength and RF frequencies to be able to start adjusting our antennae one movement at a time. Once you get the signal, use the router in building B as a gateway point  to connect it straight to the AP in building A.
  • Some of the problem to overcome were microwave frequencies that can interrupt connection signals. Other troubles that include trees along with other wireless LAN’s that can be in the area. It is quite a practical setup but precision planning does take time to establish this wireless signal.
