Set Up A Wireless Printing Network At Home

wireless printing is easy to setup and use. Multiple computers can work it without connecting through wires and going through the hassle.

  • There are different methods of setting up wireless printing, for instance printers can be wired into the network, or connected to an external wireless print server, or the device may have inbuilt wireless networking or simply a printer wired one computer on the network.
  • Try and put the printer in a place where it can receive wireless signals easily without interference.
  • Wire the printer into the network (if your printer has an Ethernet jack and is network enabled) then use a Cat5 cable to connect it to the network, once connected any number of people can easily use the printer.
  • If you do not have a network jack or router to plug up the printer to, purchase a wireless print server (available for both Ethernet and USB-enabled printers) then confirm that the print server is visible on the network.
  • You can always use printers with built-in wireless capability. Properly configure the TCP/IP address, subnet mask and router info. Depending on the model you can configure directly on the printer or else use a software or web browser.
  • Make sure the host computer is attached to the network, you can enable printer sharing on the host and then printer wirelessly from any computer attached to the network. Ideal for old models using parallel wiring.
  • Install the driver on all computers (you can use the CD or download from the web where more recent versions are available), add the printer by going to "Printers" in the Control Panel. (for macintosh; add printer by going to "Printers & Fax" in the System Preferences).
