setting up a wireless network password
this article will direct you how to set up a wireless network password in order to ensure your privacy, and the sanctity of your home network.
- Look up the IP in the routers manual and enter into your web browser, this will open up the configuration page. ( the instruction manual should contain the IP address, of not look it up on the website of the manufacturer)
- On pressing enter, a connection box should appear, requesting user name and password. Enter the defaults provided in the manual.
- Enter setup and select the wireless tab and select wireless security. Choose a good secure and hard to guess pass phrase and click on generate. You will be given your keys. Make sure to save your settings in a safe place.
- Verify if your password works. Do this by right clicking on the wireless icon and select view available wireless networks.
- Your network should show up on a list, along with a lock icon stating SECURITY ENABLED WIRELESS NETWORK. Click on it and a wireless connection prompt will request you for the keys , enter them and confirm them. After this you will never have to enter them again and you will automatically be connected whenever you click on your network name.
