Completely disable the system tray on windows 7/Vista/XP
Suppose you are a user who never used the applications in the system tray and you want this registry hack completely off. Here is the method to completely disable the system tray on the windows 7 and Vista and XP.
It is important to note that you can use this procedure in reverse mood that if your system tray is already disable and you do not know the reason of this then you can check this registry key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer
If you want to disable the clock you can do this just by right clicking on the task bar and then chose properties. It displays on the Notification Area tab.
Manual Registry Hack
To do this process open the start menu and then type “regedit.exe” in the search option or run box, and after this use the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer
After typing this key in the right pane type the following values and create the new 32-bit DWORD:
• Name: NoTrayItemsDisplay • Value: 1
After putting these values restart your computer to work it properly. If you want to remove hack, just replace 1 with 0 and delete the key.
It is important to note that remove the system tray it does not stop system tray applications from running but just disappear them.
Here is another important thing is that the name of registry key which you typed it may exist in more than one place, so if you want to reverse this hack, you have to find out the registry for “NoTrayItemsDisplay”.
The one main and important change that appears in Windows 7 is that the new “dock style” taskbar, the purpose of dock style is to show icons instead of buttons, and all the application windows combined with only a single button.
