Windows 7 Features
Windows 7 really resembles Windows Vista a lot, maybe too many similarities or maybe just comfortable enough for own use.
Old Windows Xp and Vista programs do work, every program used on Windows Xp And Windows Vista will work flawlessly.
First thing to be noticed after putting the DVD into the drive is the new installer system. Whole installation process takes place in completely new environment, we can forget about the keyboard-only input. After booting the system from the DVD the only thing we have to do is set up our location and default locale for our system (including keyboard) and the rest is up to the installer. The new installer is even willing to let us through the setup process without putting Windows License Key; we can do that later, after signing in to our account. The installation is stress-free, no questions asked, and is even faster than Vista. Whole process takes about 40-60 minutes depending on the speed of your hard drive and CPU's performance.
Enhanced New Look
With the enhanced new look it makes the new OS more friendly and easier organised.
First change to be noticed is the taskbar, this new taskbar makes it much more organized when going through many different windows but it also takes some getting used to.
Apart from perfectly new taskbar and its functionality and an upgraded Start Menu, probably the first part you will check after that is the Personalization panel. It has been revamped form the top to the bottom, now it has new possibilities like for example Desktop Slide Show hidden in Background properties. When we choose the wallpaper we can pick not only one but many and set the background to change after specified period of time. The system will automatically change wallpaper on the desktop, it can even shuffle it. Also the Sidebar was discontinued and now we can put all our gadgets directly on the desktop. It doesn't change much, but at least now we have more space on the desktop
With Windows 7, Windows Mail, Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery are no longer included, instead they will be offered separately as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite.
New features are better optimized compatibility with touch-screens, speech, and handwriting recognition. Windows 7 now have Support for virtual hard disks, improved boot performance, and major kernel improvements.
Revamped Control Panel
There have been new items added to the Control Panel like, Accelerators, Clear Type Text Tuner, Display Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Infrared, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Centre, Location and Other Sensors, Credential Manager, Biometric Devices, System Icons, Windows Solution Centre, and Display.
Net Support and Themic Capabilities
Of course Windows 7 sports the new Internet Explorer 8 as well. Windows 7 is finally showing off new themes for WordPad and Paint, this may also take some time to get used to.
Overall Windows 7 resembles Windows Vista mainly but has been optimized to run preferably better than any Windows Vista and very near close to performance of Windows Xp.
