Windows Seven Transformation Pack

The Seven Transformation Pack (STP) which was also formerly distributed as the Vista Transformation Pack is a collection of third party applications which are developed and released by Windows X. The Seven Transformation Pack imitates and applies the visual elements and graphics of the Windows 7 desktop to Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 systems. This is done without the reinstallation of the operating system. Windows Vista, XP and Server 2003 users can now easily sport the look of the latest Windows 7 Graphical User Interface (GUI) on their systems without having to actually reinstall or upgrade to Windows 7.

Although it’s easy to apply the look and feel of Windows 7 on the Windows Vista operating system, the same transition is not that easy on Windows XP and that is where the STP comes in. STP copies the look and feel of Windows 7 by tweaking the graphical elements of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 desktops including elements such as the start button, icons, window borders, menus, fonts, dialog boxes, control panel etc. According to many reviews of the STP the differences are amazing when Windows XP is used with the STP.

STP is available as a free download and also as adware from some particular download resources. For installation on Windows XP it is required that the Service Pack 3 be installed on the system before installation of STP. It is recommended that users set a system restore point in Windows XP before starting to install the STP because of the major changes that are made to the system files of Windows XP by the STP installer program. The GUI that appears after installation and rebooting is nothing less than of a miracle, performed on Windows XP. Although it does need about one gig of RAM to fully utilize all the applications of the Seven Transformation Pack. Similar deployment steps need to be adopted for Windows Vista.

A total of four versions of the STP have been developed and released to date, version 4.0 of the STP was released in 2010 just three months after version 3.0 which had claimed to be the perfect version. Version 4.0 fixes bugs and includes upgrades to the bundled 3rd party apps particularly “ViStart” and “TrueTransparency” as well as the program code of STP itself.

The newer STP version 4.0 includes support for the 64 bit processing features of Windows and particularly the Windows XP 64 bit operating system editions. Also available are localization features and support. Greater modifications have been made in this version, to three apps in particular which include “ViStart”, “TrueTransparency” and “ViGlance”. Drastic performance improvements have been incorporated and these applications are more stable than in previous versions. Version 4.0 also implements the long-requested blur feature to the “TrueTransparency” app and removes incompatibility issues found in “ViGlance”.

These new features and bug fixes make the Seven Transformation Pack a sure fire hit with users obsessed with GUI and Desktop enhancement software as well as with gamers.
