Create a Shortcut Icon or Hotkey to Turn Windows 7 / Vista Firewall On or Off

Majority of the users are facing the problem that whenever their systems are not working properly, the very first thing they have to do is to disable windows firewall. But it requires a lot of time to go through a long procedure to enable or disable this application. Below is the method that creates a shortcut icon in order to turn on or off windows firewall.

In order to create a shortcut icon or hotkey to turn windows 7 or vista firewall on or off, user has to go through a command line process. By right clicking on the desktop, user has to select New / Shortcut from the menu bar. Afterwards in the text box of the shortcut that has been created, user has to enter one of the commands. To disable the firewall, following command should be entered: netsh firewall set opmode disable. And in order to enable the firewall, user has to enter this command: netsh firewall set opmode enable. After entering the desired and required command, user will then give a particular name to the shortcut. User can also modify and alter the icon by choosing the option Change Icon Button.

If the user wants to have the confirmation that whether the shortcuts are functioning and running properly or not then, he should chose one of the above shortcuts. Then in the start menu open windows firewall and chose the link named by “Turn Windows Firewall on or off”. With this step, the user will be able to see that either the firewall is enabled or disabled. Same procedure goes with the windows vista and XP.
