Create a Shortcut to Enable/Disable Aero Transparency in 7 / Vista

In Windows 7 or Vista we can enable the transparency of the windows so that we can see the background too. Now we have found a method to create a shortcut to enable or disable this feature.

We can’t just turn off the compositing engine or Aero, all we are going to do is just disable the transparency and then turn it on again. Its not very useful mechanism or it is not used that much but can help some people to illustrate the glitches in Windows.

When we try to enable or disable files manually we have to right-click on the desktop and select Personalize, then click Window Color and Appearance where we can change the color of windows, the start menu and the taskbar. In the end there is an option to check or uncheck which says Enable transparency. When we check this option and apply then we can see the effect immediately.

Now when we come to the point, we are going to add a shortcut for this purpose. We will right-click anywhere and select New and then Shortcut. If we want to turn Aero Transparency on we will write rundll32.exe dwmApi #104 in the location bar. And for turning Aero Transparency off, we will again open Create Shortcut window and type rundll32.exe dwmApi #102 in the location bar to create a shortcut which will turn aero transparency off. Now we have two shortcuts to enable or disable aero transparency.

So when we will turn aero transparency on we can see transparent windows explorers and when we’ll turn it off, we’ll see the standard solid windows explorers.
