Create Administrator Mode Shortcuts Without UAC Prompts in Windows 7 or Vista

In Windows 7 and Vista, we can experience the irritation while we try to run a particular tool that requires administrator mode in order to run. Those prompts are UAC prompts which constantly pop up when we try to make system changes. We can avoid them by using a simple and easy hack so that we can create an administrator mode shortcut which doesn’t prompt for UAC.

All we are going to do is just setting up a scheduled task to run the application in Administrator mode and then again setting up another shortcut which will tell the scheduled task to run, it’s not that difficult and not really a security loophole either because we are required to click through UAC prompt to setup the scheduled task, so just follow simple steps below.

First, to create the Scheduled Task Item, open up Task Scheduler and then on the right-hand side click the “Create Task” link. We have to give the task a short, simple name, preferably without any spaces in it then very importantly check the box for “Run with highest privileges” Now switch to the third, Actions tab, click the New button, and then browse down to the application that we are trying to start. Our task has been created.

We can right-click on it and choose “Run” at this point, simply to make sure that it launches the application the way you were expecting, close everything you want to but only remember the name of the task.

Now we are going to create the Shortcut to Start the Task by Right-clicking anywhere on the desktop and choose New and then Shortcut from the menu.

Now we are going to add a location of that task schtasks /run /tn “TASKNAME like in our case we will write schtasks /run /tn “runregedit”. This is the pattern which should be remembered because this is the real trick. Now we have to give our shortcut some useful name, and then click next to create it.

So now we have a shortcut that will launch the application in administrator mode.
