Disable Aero on Windows 7 or Vista

Microsoft launches different versions of Windows with different features and appearances. Now days Windows 7 and Windows Vista have an interface called Aero Glass.

That is extremely high graphics interface. That requires a high graphic card. If the user has a slightly old system then this feature would not work properly and will cause a lot of problems for the user. If by mistake you have selected to use Aero interface and now you to want to disable it. Then follow the steps described below.

How to disable AERO in Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Method 1:

Aero feature also makes the system slow, for disabling it right click on the desktop and choose Personalize. Then click the link “Window Color and Appearance” for further process:

In the window that appears after that click the link “Open classic appearance properties for more color options”
Then you will se the option for disabling the Aero feature by selecting the option of “Using Vista basic”

Method 2:

Right click on the desktop and then select personalize the settings. Then go to themes and select the basic theme present in the drop down list and you will get rid of the Aero feature

Method 3:

Right click the Desktop
Select Personalize                                                                                                                             
Under 'Basic and High Contrast Themes, click the option 'Windows 7 Basic'

Method 4:

To display the default feature of Windows 7 you can also use the registry.

1.    Before disabling the feature thoroughly check whether there is a need of disabling it or not. Or the problem is caused by Aero feature or any other thing.
2.    After checking everything click on Start menu.
3.     Type the following word in the Search box in the start menu:
Aero
4.    In the appearing window search or the option of Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effect. Then select your option and disable the Aero feature
