Fixing BOOTMGR is missing Error While Trying to Boot Windows Vista
In Windows Vista if you encounter a problem while booting, you can not go to the windows or even the Safe mode and the context of the error says “BOOTMGR is missing” and when you call your technical guy, he will tell you to buy System Restore Disc. And you never made a Recovery disc too. So if you want to save your 50 bucks on System Restore Disc and you also have Windows Vista DVD then this problem is solvable.
There are some easy and basic steps to follow. So you did not have a recovery disc then you’ll have to borrow a Windows Vista DVD of alike version from someone and insert it into your DVD drive and boot your machine.
At startup you will be asked language and time etc. click next and you will see a link on the left side saying “Repair your computer”.
After clicking that link, installation will start and the installation manager will ask you the location of your Vista installation directory and show you the list of the drives and you have to select the one having Windows in it and press the Next tab again.
In the next step the efficient Windows Vista installer will give you System Recovery Options and as you have the problem regarding system startup, so you will select the first option “Startup Repair”. It will take some minutes and then the manager will prompt for you to reboot the machine. Or You can select the “Command Prompt” option in System Recovery Options and use the command
bootrec / fixboot
It will do the same process and in some minutes, will only fix your boot options.
After that final reboot you can remove the DVD and certainly your problem has been solved.
