How to Re-Enable Sleep Mode in Windows Vista

Sleep Mode is also known  as Stand-By in Microsoft Windows 95 Server 2003 and Sleep in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008. Sleep Mode runs at a low power mode in electronic devices such as computer e.t.c  so it consumes less electricity as compared to leaving a computer fully on. The main advantage of Sleep Mode to users is that they don’t  have to wait for the machine to reboot or reset programming codes. Many devices such as LED indicates and signify this power mode.

Things kept in mind while re-enabling sleep mode in Windows Vista:

1.    Wireless mouse or keyboard can cause the comuter to wake up or the other way round when you move the mouse or press any key on yhe keyboard due to which the screen saver may not work.
2.    Check the Power Plan settings because they control the computer to enable or shut off the sleep mode.
3.    The user must make it sure that the Motherboard should have the latest version of Video Drivers and BIOS (Basic Input/Output System). For that read the motherboard manual and check if there are any settings that set different sleep voltages for USB.
4.    Network devices should be checked before re-enabling the standby mode because they can cause the network hardware to wakeup the computer especially when the network is always on (like DSL, Cable e.t.c)
5.    Sometimes even a simple screen saver can create the problem to computer to come in or out of the sleep mode. In this case changing the screen saver can resolve the problem.
6.    Sometimes pressing the sleep button th e keyboard does not wake the computer from stand-by mode. It is because the keyboard is not enabled to do so.

How sleep mode will run in Windows Vista:

1.    Open the control panel
2.    Type “power” in search box and then click “Power Options”
3.    Click “Changed Plan Settings” and then “chang Power Settings”
4.    Now browse on multimedia
5.    Change “Allow The Computer To Sleep”. The computer will be back to Stand By/ Sleep Mode.
