Remove PartyPoker (Or Other Items) from the Internet Explorer Tools Menu
Various programs install unnecessary entries in Internet Explorer’s Tools Menu. This lesson will show you how to eliminate these entries by editing your registry. Editing your registry can be risky. Only do this if you are relaxing and experience with regediting.
It seems like every valueless application out there feels the need to fill the Tools menu in Internet Explorer with unwanted entries, and uninstalling the application nearly never removes the menu item. If anyone made the huge mistake of downloading PartyPoker onto a laptop or computer from work - even after he uninstalled it, the menu item still showed up.
Here I’ll tell you the procedure for IE7 for permanently uninstall; however, the steps are exactly the same for IE6. Firstly I will remove the entry to partypoker.com from toll menu. To remove permanently of this entry and potentially any others in the list, we’ll have to venture into the registry. Unlock the registry editor by typing regedit into the run box.
Browse down to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerExtensions
Under this key, you will see a group of sub keys with really long names. Click on each one of them, and if you look in the right hand window, you will see the list of options text from the offending menu item. Now right-click and Delete the keys that you don’t want to show up. Restart Internet Explorer, and the menu item should be gone.
You may have more than one you want to delete. Repeat as needed. Close regedit and reload your browser. The entries should be gone. This tip should work for either IE6 or IE7.
