Set default programs in windows 7 and vista

It is seen many times that you install a program and abruptly certain files open with it in the place of what we want to open and this problem can confuse. Here is the method by which we can control this problem.

The Problem

The example such type of this is that you are listening songs on Window Media Player in Window 7. Then suddenly you thought to install iTunes software because some one gives you an iPod as a gift. After the process of installation, there you saw a problem that the icons in your music folder look different and they’re opening with iTunes by default instead of WMP…what is the reason?

The solution of above problem is while you were installing iTunes software it can be said that you may not care that this software installs itself as the default player for all audio files unless you uncheck the option. So, we can get control over this problem by using Set Default Programs feature.

Set Default Programs

You can access this feature by clicking on Start button and then click “Default Programs”.
Click on the option “Set your default programs”.
Over look on each program and make decision that you want to set it up for the default program to open all of the file types.
And the other option is you can select the files you wish to open with program.

The process of selection a program is the application that is under recommended select it, if the application is not in the list then select option brows to open it. It is important to note that which file you are going to open “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file” that must be checked and grayed out the reason is that we are working on Set Default Programs to get to the Open with screen.

Suppose you open a file by Open with option if the box is not grayed out just check it to always open the file by that application.
