Windows Vista Service Pack 1
Service pack is basically a version of Windows perating system by Microsoft which removes the errors and bugs. Microsoft has released one service pack for Windows Vista.
Service Pack 1
It was released on February 4, 2008 with the launch of Windows Server 2008 to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) partners. The service pack was released five months after the beta test version was luanched for testing which was called beta test period. Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) workers were able to download SP1 on February 15, 2008. SP1 was made available to all users of Windows Vista on February 18, 2008 thorugh Wnidows Update and Download center. At the luanchinh time SP1 was only available for 5 languageswhich are English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese. SP1 for the rest of 31 languages was luanched on 14 April, 2008.
A white paper was released by the company in August 2008 which describes scope and for which purpose it is designed. Basically describing the intent of SP1. SP1 touches four major areas of Windows Vista which are reliability and performance, administration experience, and easy play and plug installation procedure for many devices.
Hardware and Software:
SP1 includes features new hardware support and different new softwares. Some important of them are the exFAT file system (upgraded from FAT32) , 802.11n wireless internet connecting. It supports the running IPv6 over VPN connections. It has the functions of Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol. Another new intresting development is bootinga system through Extensible Firmware Interface on x64 was being designed but lack of hardware delayed its release.. systems is also being introduced. This feature was one of the very initial features of Windows Vista for whichAn upgraded version of new DirectX10 named as DirectX 10.1. Some features that were optional in Direct3D 10 hardware are made complusory to install in Directx 10.1. To work with directx 10.1 the graphics card intalled on the system should be compatible with DirectX 10.1. SP1 includes a kernel (6001) that matches the version shipped with Windows Server 2008.A Group Policy Object Editor has been introduced which replaces the older syssystem.tem of Group Policy Management Console (GPMC). An updated downloadable version of the Group Policy Management Console was released soon after the service pack.
SP1 has the ability to support hot-pacthing. Hot-pacthing is a technique a reboot-reduction servicing technology which is made to increase the uptime (working time) of a system. It works by allowing Windows components to be updated (or \"patched\") while they are still in use by a running process. Those updates which are hot-pachted enabled install in that lod fashion and do not need to reboot the system to take effects.
